Gem Mahjong is a layer-by-layer tile-matching puzzle set in the drowned marble halls of an Aegean palace: fifteen hand-cut gems are stacked across four acts of Greek myth, and every pair you set into the Aegis brings Princess Andromeda one step closer to walking off the cliff.
How to play
- Lift a free gem. Tap any tile with nothing resting on top of it — it rides down into the tide tray.
- Match a pair. Tap a second tile showing the same gem. The pair is set into the shield and both tiles vanish.
- Mind the tide. The tray holds seven gems. Fill it and you have twelve seconds to match, sweep or burn a power-up before the sea claims the lot.
- Clear the pile. Empty every tile to finish the chamber and unlock the next one.
- Watch the Mark. From Act III, Cetus-marked gems refuse to sit in the tray — they can only be lifted when their twin is already safe.
Four power-ups help when the pile tightens: Magnet pulls the buried twin of a tray gem out of the stack, Sweep returns the whole tray to the pile, Shuffle re-deals what is left, and Aegis Glance links every remaining pair with a line of shield-light. Tide Pearls, hidden in the later chambers, hand back eight seconds and a free power-up.
Thirty chambers run across four acts — The Tidal Baths, The Nereid Grotto, The Temple of Cetus and The Chain-Cliff of Andromeda — and an endless descent keeps going after the story is told. Stars are awarded on how much tide clock you had left, and your best scores and unlocked chambers are saved in your browser.

Fifteen sacred gems have been scattered through four sunken chambers of an Aegean palace, and you lift them back onto Athena's Aegis two at a time until the shield is whole and Princess Andromeda is freed from the sea-cliff.
How do I play Gem Mahjong?
Tap a gem tile that has nothing resting on it — it rides down into the tide tray at the bottom of the screen. Tap a second tile showing the same gem and the pair is set into the Aegis and disappears. Clear every tile on the pile to finish the chamber.
What happens when the tide tray fills up?
The tray holds seven gems, and any gem you leave in it is one the sea may claim. Once the tray is full you have twelve seconds to make a match, sweep the tray back onto the pile, or use a power-up; if the clock runs out, the tide takes the tray and the chamber ends.
What are Cetus-marked gems?
From Act III the beast marks some gems with its sigil. A marked gem cannot ride in the tray, so it may only be lifted when its twin is already in the tray or free on the board. Marked gems must effectively be cleared in pairs, which is where most of the late-game planning comes from.
